Smart, now a member of the Celtics, was fined $5,000 by the NBA for violating the league’s anti-flopping rules during the fourth quarter of the Celtics 111-103 playoff win over the Hawks Friday in Boston.

Smart tried to make it look like Kyle Korver, who was in foul trouble, initiated an offensive foul, but instead the Celtics guard just made himself look foolish.

Here’s the hilarious attempt to draw a call.

Perhaps just as egregious, however, Smart’s teammate Isaiah Thomas won’t be penalized for hitting the Hawks’ Dennis Schroder in the head in the first quarter as the Atlanta guard ran up the court after a layup.

Without a suspension, Thomas will look to build on his career-high 42 points when the two teams square off again Sunday in Boston with the Hawks holding a 2-1 series lead.
