Jennings took the brunt of a liner by the Pirates’ Jordy Mercer. The reliever momentarily stumbled before going to his knees after the play. The Marlins’ TV crew reported the ball came off Mercer’s bat at 101 mph.

The Marlins said Jennings was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion. He was kept in the hospital overnight for observation.
