Team owner Jeffrey Loria didn’t elaborate on the details of the memorial but did say it will be “something wonderful.”
Fernandez was killed in a boating accident along with two friends on Sept. 25. According to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Department, Fernandez had a blood alcohol content of .147 percent, nearly twice the legal intoxication limit, and had cocaine in his system.

Regardless, the Marlins will replace their current makeshift memorial to the pitcher with something more lasting to represent his impact on the franchise.
