The polarizing Seahawks running back spent the offseason working with developers of the immensely popular video game franchise Call of Duty in order to make the man known as “Beast Mode” the first athlete to appear as a character in a COD game.

ESPN went behind the scenes of the filming process that turned a destructive gridiron force into the ultimate virtual killing machine in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops III game, and the content is wildly entertaining.

While the media may not get to interact with Lynch all that often, it is a well known fact that he is an avid gamer. According to the ESPN story, Lynch’s “Call of Duty” fandom began during his college days at Cal, and he keeps in touch with former teammates by engaging on the virtual battlefield. 

But Lynch isn’t the first celebrity to appear in Call of Duty. “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey appeared in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, perhaps paving the way for people like Lynch to get involved. But ask Lynch if he knows who Spacey is, and well, Netflix isn’t one of his strengths.
