Three weeks later, in the aftermath of Logano’s title-winning race at Homestead-Miami, Truex Jr. sat dejected in his 78 car, his head down. He had been outdueled by the very driver he had determined he would eliminate, finishing a distant second.

Despite the obvious sting of the result, the 2017 Cup Series winner remained civil when talking to reporters. He focused on his Furniture Row Racing team, which is set to close following the conclusion of the season.
“I’m gonna miss these guys,” Truex Jr. said. “I wish we could’ve won it. … He passed me so fast we didn’t have a chance to do anything.”
Truex Jr.’s innermost feelings may have been closer to this, however.
