It’s Busch’s car, however, that will start from pole position in Saturday’s Sparks Energy 300 at Talladega. Matt Tifft will drive the No. 18 in the 3:19 p.m. ET. Teammates Daniel Suarez will start second and Erik Jones rolls out fourth.

The interlopers in the top five: brothers Austin and Ty Dillon. Sprint Cup driver Joey Logano starts eighth.

Tifft, 19, will drive 13 Xfinity races for Gibbs this season. He also drives for JGL Racing in its No. 24 car. Between races, Tifft is a college student, taking business management classes.
