Indeed, over half of the eight-team field enters competition ranked among AP Top 25 teams, including No. 9 Arkansas, No. 10 Creighton, No. 14 Arizona, No. 17 San Diego State and No. 23 Texas Tech. Blue bloods Louisville, Ohio State and Cincinnati round out the tournament.
Will this year’s tournament reveal a contender for the 2022-23 national championship? All but one of the five prior Maui Invitational champions have been eligible for the NCAA Tournament, the lone exception being Notre Dame in 2017-18; the 2019-20 champions, Kansas, did not make the tournament due to the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.
