Restraint seems to have been thrown out the window when one reads tabloid talk of “mad mullahs” and columnist Ann Coulter’s desire to “kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity” (although she was dismissed from her post at National Review magazine for these comments). Some critics include NEWSWEEK’s domestic cover, GOD BLESS AMERICA, on their over-the-top list. The patriotic furor is sure to ebb at some point–in victory, or if the Afghan conflict drags on without victory in sight.
