Susan Ryeland — Lesley Manville
Lesley Manville portrays Susan Ryeland in Magpie Murders, a prominent editor who is given the task of looking over an unfinished manuscript by best-selling crime author, Alan Conway.
Intrigued by Conway’s mysterious disappearance and rumors he may be dead, Susan sets off on a quest to find out what really happened to him and why his last chapter was left unfinished.
Manville is well known for starring in the films Vera Drake and Phantom Thread.
She most recently starred in the historical comedy Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris.
She also played Cathy in Mum, Lydia Quigley in Harlots and will portray Princess Margaret in Season 5 of The Crown.
Alan Conway — Conleth Hill
Conleth Hill plays famed author Alan Conway in Magpie Murders, who reportedly dies in suspicious circumstances before the last chapter of his highly anticipated novel is finished.
Hill is best known for playing Varys in Game of Thrones, O’Kelly in Dublin Murders, Edward Darby in Suits, and Mendel Liberman in Vienna Blood.
He is also a two-time Laurence Oliver Award winner and has received two Tony nominations.
Atticus Pünd — Tim McMullan
Tim McMullan takes on the role of Detective Atticus Pünd, the character from Conway’s novel.
McMullan is well best known for his theater career, appearing in productions of Anthony and Cleopatra, Twelfth Night, and The Master and Margarita.
He also starred as Robin Woods in The Crown and Sonny in Patrick Melrose.
Audiences may also recognize McMullan from his role as Douglas Cartwright in The Serpent and Arthur Valentine in Foyle’s War.
DS Locke — Daniel Mays
Daniel Mays takes on the role of DS Locke, who has his own, questionable theory about what happened to Conway.
Mays is well known for portraying Detective Chief Inspector Peter Jay in Des, Tivik in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Sergeant Danny Waldron in Line of Duty.
Claire Jenkins — Pippa Haywood
Pippa Haywood stars as Alan Conway’s bereaved sister, Claire Jenkins.
Audiences will most likely recognize Haywood from her role as Lorraine Craddock in Bodyguard and Mrs Colson in Bridgerton.
