The winning numbers were 11, 15, 31, 42 and 63, with the Mega Ball 14 and the Megaplier 2x, according to the Mega Millions website.

There were no lucky winners of the big prize last night as no tickets purchased managed to match all white numbers and the gold Mega Ball, meaning the jackpot will roll over to the next drawing on Tuesday.

However there were two winners of the second biggest prize of $1 million with those tickets matching all five white balls. One of those ticket holders had the Megaplier, and so doubled their money to $2 million.

There were five people who won at least $10,000 after correctly picking four of the white balls and the gold Mega Ball. One of those winners doubled their payout to $20,000 because they also purchased the additional 2x Megaplier.

Some 243 players won $500 by matching four numbers and, of those winners, 45 won $1,000 using the Megaplier. Additionally, 662 people won $200 by matching three numbers and the Mega Ball, and 124 of them doubled their prize to $400 using the Megaplier.

Over 29,000 players won $10 by either matching three numbers or two numbers and the Mega Ball and over 6,000 of these players won $20 using the Megaplier.

As the jackpot wasn’t won, it now increases in size to roughly $57 million, with a cash option of $45.5 million, for the next drawing at 11pm E.T. on August 25.

The last grand prize jackpot winner was from a ticket sold in California for the 07/31/20 drawing of $22 million. There have only been four Mega Millions jackpot winners this calendar year.

How does Mega Millions work?

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery that first launched on August 31, 1996. One of the most popular lotteries in the country, tickets are sold in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Draws are held every Tuesday and Friday at WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Five white balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70, with one gold Mega Ball drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 25. With nine different ways to win a prize, your chances of winning at least $2 are 1 in 24, according to the Mega Millions website.

If you are a lucky winner, you will have between 90 days and one year to redeem your ticket, depending on local rules and regulations.

All jackpot winners are entitled to either a cash option or an annuity option of an initial payout followed by 29 annual payments that are each 5 percent larger than the previous ones. All prizes are subject to income taxes.
