The star shared a light-hearted video of her stay at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in a horror film homage that played up to the premises’ reputation as an apparent haven for the supernatural.

“So we get to our hotel in Milwaukee yesterday thinking everything was normal,” she wrote on Instagram, “until someone told us it was one of the most haunted places in America!”

“Why would my team put us here?” she added with a crying face emoji.

Many say, either jokingly or seriously, that the historic hotel, completed in 1893 by Charles Pfister, is home to his restless spirit, the Milwaukee Record reported.

Ghost stories began to emerge in the early 2000s from paranormal investigators and even visiting Major League baseball players, the publication reported.

The Grammy winner, who was in town to headline the Summerfest festival is the latest to be added to the list of those who have said they felt uneasy in its corridors.

A five-minute video posted to her social media account uses some of the techniques of horror classic The Blair Witch Project and is backed by atmospheric music.

In it, she addressed the camera to say: “I was in the room and I closed my bedroom door, and I thought maybe somebody had come in”, and moved her stuff around. “I came in and nobody was there. I did that two times,” she added.

A crew member also reported hearing a creepy noise while one of her team who is questioned why they were booked to stay there ahead of her performance at Summerfest, tells her that “the ghosts aren’t going to bother you unless you have bad vibes.”

After a sequence in which she and her entourage move around the hotel, she said at the end of the video, “we haven’t found anything, I don’t think we want to find anything.”

The experience did not appear to impact her performance on Thursday at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, where she became the first female rapper in 22 years to headline the largest stage at the largest music festival in the country, the Milwaukee Sentinel reported.

During the show which got a rave review from the publication, she brought several dozen people on stage.
