As the person who has spent the most amount of weeks ranked #1 in the GPI World Poker Rankings, Mercier had set lofty goals for himself again this season, wanting to win at least three tournaments in 2014. The now 15-time winner on the circuit made it win #1 on Saturday, but you shouldn’t count him out on three wins just yet, despite the fact that only a few weeks remain on the 2014 poker calendar:

They say there is no rest for the wicked and Mercier is no exception. Just hours after his win, he was already back on a plane home … but just for a few hours as the Czech Republic awaits as the much anticipated European Poker Tour Prague festival kicked off earlier today:

Mercier is currently ranked #5 in the World and sits in 7th in the Player of the Year race. Once he is done in Prague, he will make his way back to the US, in Las Vegas more specifically, as a few major poker tournaments await to close the 2014 season, including the World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic at Bellagio, which starts on December 15th.
