A 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, Conlan made his pro debut in 2017. He had a productive 2019, beating Ruben Hernandez and Diego Alberto Ruiz, while facing Vladimir Nikitin inside Madison Square Garden. That MSG fight, where Conlan won, was a rematch from their bout at the Olympics, in which Nikitin won following a controversial call.

In August 2021, he beat T.J. Doheny for the interim WBA featherweight title. Facing Leigh Wood for the WBA (Regular) featherweight title in March, Conlan looked like he was on his way to winning his first major title. Wood came back, however, and in the 12th round knocked Conlan out of the ring. Conlan would lose via TKO.

“I’m very excited to be back fighting in my beloved Belfast,” Conlan said. “Miguel is a great fighter, and together we’ll give the fans a memorable night at The SSE Arena. This bout will get me straight back in the mix for world titles, and I’m relishing the task at hand.”

In 2017 Marriaga lost to Oscar Valdez for the WBO featherweight title and to Vasiliy Lomachenko for the WBO junior-lightweight title.

Marriaga is 2-2 in his last four fights. Back in December, he lost to Eduardo Ramirez via unanimous decision. This will be Marriaga’s first trip to the U.K.
