To speed U.N. efforts to impose a global ban on chemical weapons, Bush will likely announce that the United States will destroy its entire CW stockpile. He’ll also propose an “information exchange” among the Mideast’s five major conventional-weapons suppliers–the United States, the Soviet Union, France, Britain and China. Secretary of State James Baker pushed for a moratorium on all arms deliveries to the region, sources say, but White House and Pentagon officials rebuffed him.
