Cabrera, 31, had surgery in October to remove bone spurs in his right foot, and his road to recovery finally appears to have ended. He also had hernia surgery the year before.
The first baseman hit .313/.371/.524 with 25 home runs and 109 RBIs last year. The home run total was his lowest since his rookie season in 2003. Cabrera admitted to playing in pain throughout most of the 2014 season, so the Tigers will hope his power returns now that he’s healthy.
