On Tuesday, Alaska became the first state to announce that anyone over the age of 16 in the state is now eligible to receive the vaccine. “We want to get our economy back up and running. We want to get our society back up and running,” Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy said on Tuesday. “We want to put this virus behind us—as far as possible, as soon as possible.” So far, Alaska has fully vaccinated 16 percent of its population, which is the highest rate in the country, The New York Times reported....

President Joe Biden condemned the Texas fetal heartbeat law, upheld Wednesday by justices, pledging to do what’s possible to shield women and women’s health care providers from its consequences, the Associated Press reported. He added that women should be protected from “the impact of Texas’ bizarre scheme of outsourced enforcement to private parties.” At least 12 other states have issued early-pregnancy abortion bans, but all have been blocked from going into effect....

In a statement released Monday, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton announced charges against three individuals: Raymonyea Travon Bishop, age 23; Larry Edward Teague, age 44 and Sharmel Lashe Teague, age 45.
