The fundraising message from former President Donald Trump’s niece was sent amongst several others from high-profile Democrats encouraging donations in support of McAuliffe as he campaigns in Virginia’s gubernatorial election against Republican Glenn Youngkin, who received the former president’s official endorsement in May. McAuliffe, who previously served one term as Virginia’s governor between 2014 and 2018, raised about $5.6 million more than Youngkin during the race’s last fundraising cycle, according to The Associated Press....

The January 6 committee heard on Monday how Trump allies at Fox News, as well Donald Trump Jr, had pleaded with former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to get the then-president to call off his supporters who had stormed the U.S. Capitol. The reptile was found on the street corner of Perrier and Upperline by local residents on Wednesday, WGNO reported, among damage wrought by Hurricane Ida and garbage bags piling up as a result of the streets being neglected during the disaster. “There’s a gator in the garbage,” Naomi Gadinsky, who lives on Perrier Street, told WGNO. “This morning I woke up and it was business as usual, then my husband said there’s a large dead gator in the dumpster across the street from our house,” Gadinsky added....

Joel Greenberg, a former tax collector in Florida’s Seminole Country, will plead guilty to six federal charges—including sex trafficking a minor—at a court hearing at 10 a.m. ET at a federal court in Orlando, according to an agreement submitted in court on Friday. The other charges including producing a false identification document, identity theft, wire fraud, stalking and conspiracy. In the plea agreement, Greenberg admitted to recruiting women for commercial sex acts and paying them more than $70,000 between 2016 and 2018....

Gaetz, a Florida Republican, has been among the GOP figures who promoted the unproven claims that President Joe Biden only won in 2020 due to widespread voter fraud. “I believe that Donald Trump won the 2020 election,” he said on local news station WEAR-TV after anchor Bob Solarski asked if he still buys into the theory of a stolen election.
