The Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit filed by Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton to overturn the election results in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin on Friday. More than 100 GOP members of the House of Representatives—including four from Michigan—signed an amicus brief in support of the Texas lawsuit. Additionally, 15 Republican state lawmakers in Michigan backed Paxton’s brief. “These are individuals who, in my opinion, have violated their oaths of office....

Manke reopened his barbershop on May 4 in violation of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order shutting down all non-essential businesses amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. He said he did so because he couldn’t survive any longer without an income and thought he could safely provide services by using face masks and hand sanitizer. After Manke ignored state and local commands to shut down, the Michigan Department of Health issued an Imminent Threat and Abatement Order telling him to close....

With 97 percent of the vote counted, Biden leads Trump by a margin of 1.2 percent, 49.8 percent to 48.6 percent, bringing CNN to call the state for the Democratic contender. As the nation’s 10th-most populous state, Michigan holds 16 electoral votes—a significant prize in the race to victory in the Electoral College. Trump narrowly won Michigan in 2016 by a margin of just 0.2 percent. The president’s previous win in the state was viewed as an upset, as polls had indicated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton would come out on top....
