An unidentified suspect is said to have shot several people at a hookah bar in the town around 10 p.m. local time, before driving to a second location and shooting more people at a different hookah bar. Police arrested at least one person in connection to the shootings, according to German newspaper Bild. It is unknown whether more than one person was involved. Possible motives for the shootings are also unclear....

On September 17, Matthew Butchard was arrested and is facing charges which include criminal harassment, property damage to intimidate, and civil rights violation counts. Of all the charges that Butchard is facing, the criminal harassment charge carries the longest potential prison sentence, which is 30 months. Local police were tipped off about Butchard’s alleged crimes by a Snapchat video which showed him arriving at Todd Hermann and Steven James’ home and allegedly drawing a penis and the words, “Todd + Steve = gay f**s,” onto the sandwich paper before leaving it in their driveway....

Last week, Governor Charlie Baker activated around 500 National Guard members to be deployed across 55 hospitals. Massachusetts is not the only state that has called for the help of its National Guard. About 1,000 members of Ohio’s National Guard were deployed around the state to assist hospitals with rising hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19. In early December, Maine deployed 75 members of its National Guard to provide support for nursing homes and critical care units....

According to a report from Fox News, some 300-400 migrants, mostly coming from Haiti, were seen arriving at the gate with the hopes of entering the United States. The migrants were reportedly met by state troopers from Nebraska, Florida, and Texas, along with members of the National Guard and Border Patrol. It was not immediately clear what would happen to the group on Monday, with reports that border patrol processing centers have already reached capacity in the area and would not be able to process hundreds of new people....
